Housing Society rules and regulations:
Housing society rules and regulations are designed to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective management of housing societies. Here are some common rules and regulations that apply to housing societies:
By-laws: All residents and the managing committee must follow the by-laws of the housing society.
Maintenance fees: Residents must pay maintenance fees on time to help the society run smoothly.
Waste disposal: Residents must follow the rules for disposing of waste.
Parking: Residents must follow the parking rules set by the society. In case of less parking slots and more cars, the society managing committee should allot the parking areas by having yearly draw (lots).
Common areas: Residents must follow the guidelines for using common areas, such as playgrounds, gardens, and swimming pools.
General body meetings: Members must attend all general body meetings of the society.
Subletting: Members cannot sublet their flats without the society's prior permission.
Alterations: Members cannot make any alterations to their flats without the managing committee's prior written permission.
Pets: Members cannot keep animals or birds in their flats or in the society's compound without the society's and local authority's prior permission.
Inspections: Members can inspect the society's books, registers, and documents for free. They can also get copies of documents by paying the prescribed fees.
In Maharashtra, the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act of 1960 governs the general rules for housing societies.
