MahaRERA maps 4,500 listed projects with GIS technology

Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) secretary Vasant Prabhu, instrumental in executing the project, said the chief minister had stressed on the need of GIS mapping reports TOI.

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority has mapped nearly 4,500 of the 16,000 projects registered with it under the Geographical Information System, enabling citizens find minute details of homes of their choice just by selecting the option “view on map” on its website.

Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) secretary Vasant Prabhu, instrumental in executing the project, said the chief minister had stressed on the need of GIS mapping. MahaRERA tied up with MahaOnline for it.

“After a year of the implementation of MahaRERA, we decided to map the projects because it would help the prospective buyers to look at the details of the projects of their interest and nearby amenities,” he added.

The MahaRERA Act made it mandatory for new and ongoing projects to register with the regulatory body, leading to the creation of their database. “The system has mapped 4,500 projects and the remaining 11,500 would be mapped shortly,” said a MahaRERA official.
